Top Three Reasons Why Barack Obama is a Sexy Beast

Okay, now that I have your attention: He’s not exactly a sexy beast. He’s refined, sophisticated, poised and intelligent. But good looking? I find myself struggling to figure out if he’s actually physically attractive.

Although politicians have historically been the object of lust and sexual envy, Obama is different–mainly because he doesn’t have that big “President” title just yet. Yes, he has the the whole “Senator of Illinois” thing attached to his name, but how many senators have you had a major crush on or lusted after? Senators are usually behind the scenes, only occasionally noticed by the public eye. On the contrary, Clinton, Kennedy and our very own Gavin Newsom are/were constantly in the public eye. Making speeches, being followed by the media, being interviewed, getting frisky with young interns–we saw them everywhere (Speaking of getting frisky, all three mentioned examples have had affairs. I swear, this was totally a coincidence. This just further speaks to their appeal).

Anyway, these are stereotypically good looking politicians we’re talking about here—light hair, blue eyes and fairly strong frames. Obama, on the other hand, has a relatively lanky, skinny body, big Ross Perot ears and purple-stained smoker’s lips–yet he has undeniable appeal despite his unconventional looks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Obama is fugly. He’s actually a decent-looking guy. But if he was jogging in my neighborhood in sweatpants (and wasn’t the Barack Obama) he probably wouldn’t get a second look amongst most women.

So what is it about Obama that makes him so hot?

1. Eloquence
One of Obama’s most prominent and obvious traits is his ability to speak to large crowds with simultaneous power, honesty and charisma. As a sincere, intelligent man who can speak in public with such eloquence, he clearly demonstrates that he knows how to turn on the verbal charm. I took the opportunity to check him out when he came to Oakland and I was truly blown away by how he moved the crowd, with such simple, yet thought out words.

2. His omnipresent passion
Whether you agree with his political decisions or not, his passion for change is believable, genuine and relatable. His quiet confidence shines despite his “lack of experience,” and he has been able to galvanize those uninterested in politics, disprove those skeptical that a black man could ever make it this far into the elections, and in a recent poll, has actually shown to be the preferred candidate over McCain amongst traditionally Republican evangelicals (despite moronic, delusional Sean Hannity claiming that they’re even in national polls).

3. He’s a family man with swagger
I think women of all ages can admire the fact that Obama seems to be a family man. He’s defended his wife to the death when “fair and balanced” Faux news made some pretty ridiculous statements against her. And undeniably, that “fist bump” he gave his wife (it’s called a POUND people!) was subtle, romantic and pretty hot at the same time. The fact the he followed it with a little booty tap didn’t hurt either. There’s nothing wrong with a classic slap on the ass with a little class (it is possible). The funny thing is the media ate up the pound, questioned it’s significance (once again, “fair and balanced” FOX called it a “terrorist fist jab”), but no one seemed to notice that little tap to the derriere. Let’s face it, Obama is a pretty cool guy. He brings ten times the “hip” that Clinton brought to the political forefront. To top it off, the fact that Barack did the whole fist pounding thing in front of media cameras shows that he’s comfortable and confident in himself. And confidence (not to be mistaken for cockiness) is always a turn on.

Will I go around parading in an “Obama is Sexy” tee shirt? Probably not–that would be a little too groupie-ish. But blogging about how he is sexy? Totally normal.

Yes, Obama’s ears may be “too big for Mount Rushmore,” but he clearly has enough passion to capture the hearts of America. I know, that was really corny.

Now that’s a tee shirt I would probably wear.
